The visitors come to Zanzibar because of its white
sand beaches adorned by coconut trees with an impressive
height. Its landscape transport you to distant times
where the sultans, the merchants of species and ivory
and the traffickers of slaves were the owners of this
marvel.
Zanzibar is also known as the Species Island, due
to the development of the trade of these substances
during the 19th century.
Stone Town , the capital of the island, still conserves
the splendorous style of “The thousand and one
nights”, fruit of the inheritance of ancestors
Arabian, Persian and Omani. The city shows us places
full of charm, with a fascinating architecture displaying
Arabic, Indian, European and African characteristics.
Taking a walk for its narrow streets in the old neighborhood,
you will find extraordinary carved wooden doors. Many
doors are decorated with carving's of passages from
the Quran. There are more than 500 doors, many of
which are older than the houses. Surprisingly, some
doors have large brass spikes, which are of tradition
from Indian, to avoid the attacks of the elephants.
The life is impregnated from the exotic scent of the
species, the punctual call to the prayer of the muckiness
of the mosques ...
Among other recommended places, we can find “Cells
of Temekuja School”, “Old Fort”,
“St Joseph's Cathedral”, “Livingstone
House”...
Zanzibar offers excellent diving and snorkeling places
and other activities like "spice tour" ....
keep in mind that in some lodges and Muslim hotels
don't have alcohol drinks, not even beer.
